The movers came and took away everything. The light painted the floors orange and blue, and I was reminded of the first things we fell in love with as we were making the house ours. It is said that everything that has a beginning has an end; this is the end of our life in the U.S. Thank you house, you gave us shelter in hurricanes, snowstorms and summer heat; I loved making you our home. I loved your wooden floors, old doorknobs, wavy glass of our 100-year-old window panes, and the way you shaped us into a family.
